  • The Warriors Have Something to Teach You About Leadership

I make no secret about being a Golden State Warriors fan. This is my home town team, and I am proud to admit that I am not just a bandwagon fan.  Sports fan or not, you’ve probably heard about their history-making skill.  You’ll see effusive…

    A Reminder: Answer the Question

People always ask: How do I make myself stand out in an MBA application?  I have three words of advice: Answer the questions.  Advice so simple it barely seems worth mentioning. At a recent school panel, a Yale School of Management admissions officer underscored just…

  • The Official Word on Round 3 MBA Chances

I recently wrote an article for Poets and Quants on Round 3, checking in with a whole bunch of admissions officers for their official word on the subject.  The quick answer: it’s a smaller round, and if you do apply, do it with gusto. For…

  • After Round 2 — And Some Interview Tips Too

This is the in-between season for MBA applicants, characterized by anxiety for everyone, including me. Reason: those who have already met their first-round deadlines have nothing to do but wait, and are suddenly overwhelmed with free time and unused gym memberships. Those who are applying…

  • How to approach the optional essay

Every MBA candidate I talk to asks the same question: is the optional essay really optional?  It really depends. Wharton, for example has a second essay which they call “optional,” which it is, but it is a free form, “tell us something else we might…

What People Are Saying

I once told Betsy she is "amazeballs", well, because I believe she is. Betsy was both a mentor and a friend and helped me to continue to have faith in myself throughout the overwhelming process of MBA applications. She helped me explore my school options and put me in touch with people who could offer additional guidance. Because she took the time to really get to know me, Betsy helped me present my strongest self throughout my essays and was a large factor in my getting accepted to my top choice.

Betsy has a gift! Working with her I actually enjoyed the application process. I wouldn't have gotten in without Betsy's help.

Betsy! I miss you! Seriously, your lessons are relevant to every assignment and essay I have written in the last year. I owe you a debt of gratitude.

I would strongly suggest working with Betsy if you are looking for one-on-one attention, especially if you have a finance background or international experience. She took a very holistic approach to the process, was really interested in talking me through my highs and lows up to this point and true gut feel for why this school/why MBA. I did not have a very straightforward story (lay offs, international moves, liberal arts major with only ok GPA) and my GMAT was not stellar, but I feel that I was able to put my best foot forward in this cycle with Betsy's guidance.

Thank you for helping me put in the best application I could. And now I'm Hanover-bound --time to upgrade my winter wardrobe!
