Master Admissions is owned and operated by Betsy Massar, Harvard MBA.

After graduating from Harvard Business School, Betsy worked on Wall Street for Goldman Sachs and then Bankers Trust (now Deutsche Bank). In the midst of both up and down markets, she learned the art and science of selling in a competitive environment. She later lived and worked in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Vietnam for a decade, alternately as a securities salesperson and as a financial journalist for Euromoney Institutional Investor. After a lifetime abroad, once back in the U.S., she combined sales, marketing and writing/editing experience into positions in marketing and communications for both Barclays Global Investors and for Franklin Templeton Investments. She has been helping candidates in their applications to business school since she was in her second year at Harvard. Betsy has coached and edited writers with a wide range of talents, from those with only a rough facility with English to veteran newspaper journalists. She also has been published in a wide range of journals, including the International Herald Tribune, AsiaMoney, Global Investor, Fast Company, Workforce Management and Online Investor, among others. She has studied French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese and Vietnamese, and currently volunteers at an ESL (English as a second language) program for new immigrants. Betsy is a graduate of Vassar College and is a lifetime member of the Hong Kong Foreign Correspondents Club.

Frances Hochschild

Frances Hochschild is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business with a background in both management consulting and finance. After working in strategic planning, as a management consultant, and as an investment banker, she switched to the administrative side focusing on firm management, recruiting, and human resources at Bain, Robertson Stephens, and more recently for private equity, investment advisory, and start-up companies. Frances began her career as an M&A analyst at Lehman Brothers. Based in the U.S., she has recruited employees globally and worked for Bain in Russia and South Africa. She was also a manager of strategic planning for Gap Inc. and has served as a human capital and strategy consultant for wide range of global companies. Frances is an experienced resume coach, and is one of the Stanford GSB’s highest-rated mock-interview coaches. She received her undergraduate degree with a concentration in Economics at Harvard College, where she received the Manager of the Year award for her work with the varsity football team.

What People Are Saying

Working with Betsy was a fantastic experience! She is honest and told me exactly what I needed to hear, without sugar-coating. She never put words in my mouth, and was genuinely invested in getting to know me and helping me focus my career vision.

A Harvard Business School

Betsy doesn't do half-measures, and she doesn't accept sloppy work. From our first talk, she saw straight to the core of my applications, exposing the holes, and asking me to answer my most difficult questions. Betsy's standards are tough, but combined with her sensitivity to my personal goals, and endless patience, they were exactly what I needed to get motivated, and kick my applications into gear.

A NYU Stern

Betsy was great through out my application process. She was my sounding board, my mentor, my counselor all at the same time. She calmed me down when I was stressed, she helped me focus on the big picture without forgetting the details. THANK YOU!

S UC Berkeley Haas

Betsy helped me find my story. Like many MBA candidates I am a career switcher so demonstrating why I want to do an MBA and getting to the core message was difficult and took a lot of time. Betsy helped me bring it out through phone conversations and continuous feedback on my writing. This was an extremely frustrating process for me but somehow Betsy knew to dig deeper and she challenged me through every conversation and through every piece of writing I submitted to her.

Eventually I made a real connection with my story and why I wanted to pursue an MBA at this stage in my life. This process not only helped me with essays but it also helped me develop a concrete plan for my future.
