  • Even More MBA Essay Tips: No cookie-cutters!

Every time I go to a school’s MBA information session, I learn something.  The other night I attended a session at UC Berkeley’s Haas school, and , despite the amount of time I put in to learning about this school (it’s right in my neighborhood),…

  • More MBA Essay Tips: The Remarkable You

About a week ago, I gave an MBA essay workshop to about 25 aspiring students and each one was remarkable.   I don’t think they all would have agreed with my statement until they saw it with their own eyes. To start the evening off, we…

  • Leadership: More than Managing People

Rose Martinelli, head of admissions at Chicago Booth is an outstanding blogger. This week she asks, “What if I don’t manage people?” She says: “While several members of our team are heading to Europe, I’ll be heading to Southern California for the next few days…

  • Reapplication Strategies (Also Useful for First Timers)

As usual, Rose Martinelli, the articulate head of admissions at the Chicago Booth School of Business posted an insightful series of articles on reapplying. I like the fact that she is so specific. She talks about filling out data forms carefully and rounds it up…

  • The Dreaded GMAT

I’m no fan of the Graduate Management Admission Test, the GMAT. It’s a tricky, exasperating standardized test that sorts MBA aspirants into two categories: Those that have to worry about their scores and those that don’t. Critics proclaim that the test doesn’t measure success in…

What People Are Saying

I once told Betsy she is "amazeballs", well, because I believe she is. Betsy was both a mentor and a friend and helped me to continue to have faith in myself throughout the overwhelming process of MBA applications. She helped me explore my school options and put me in touch with people who could offer additional guidance. Because she took the time to really get to know me, Betsy helped me present my strongest self throughout my essays and was a large factor in my getting accepted to my top choice.

Betsy has a gift! Working with her I actually enjoyed the application process. I wouldn't have gotten in without Betsy's help.

M Harvard Business School

Betsy! I miss you! Seriously, your lessons are relevant to every assignment and essay I have written in the last year. I owe you a debt of gratitude.

A UC Berkeley Hass December 27, 2017

I would strongly suggest working with Betsy if you are looking for one-on-one attention, especially if you have a finance background or international experience. She took a very holistic approach to the process, was really interested in talking me through my highs and lows up to this point and true gut feel for why this school/why MBA. I did not have a very straightforward story (lay offs, international moves, liberal arts major with only ok GPA) and my GMAT was not stellar, but I feel that I was able to put my best foot forward in this cycle with Betsy's guidance.

Thank you for helping me put in the best application I could. And now I'm Hanover-bound --time to upgrade my winter wardrobe!
